OMVIC — the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council — is the government-delegated authority responsible for regulating Ontario's automotive retail industry. Their approval is not automatic. Warranty providers must meet strict standards around financial stability, claims practices, and consumer protection.
When a warranty provider is OMVIC approved, it means the program has been vetted and meets Ontario's consumer protection requirements. You have legal recourse if claims are improperly denied, and the program is backed by accountability that unregulated aftermarket warranties simply don't provide.
